A Look at the Rangers' 2023 Pitching Staff
ARLINGTON -- The Rangers 2023 rotation is starting to take shape early in the offseason as left-hander Martin Perez has been assigned to the Round Rock Express. The move comes after the Rangers signed Perez to a one-year, $4 million contract in March.
Perez was the Rangers' best pitcher in 2022, finishing with a 12-8 record and a 4.46 ERA in 32 starts. He led the team in innings pitched (196.1) and strikeouts (169).
The Rangers are hoping that Perez can continue to be a key part of their rotation in 2023. He is expected to be joined in the rotation by Jon Gray, Dane Dunning, and Spencer Howard.
The assignment of Perez to Round Rock gives the Rangers a chance to evaluate their other starting pitching options. Taylor Hearn, Cole Ragans, and Glenn Otto are among the pitchers who could compete for a spot in the rotation.
