Yasuke: The Black Samurai Returns to Battle
From Africa to Japan, an Epic Journey
A Peaceful Boatman, a Mysterious Girl, and a World on the Brink
In a world of war-torn feudal Japan, filled with mechs and magic, a peaceful boatman once known as The Black Samurai finds himself pulled back into a life of conflict when he takes a little girl with mysterious powers under his wing. "Yasuke," an original net animation (ONA) series, loosely based on the historical figure of the same name, an African warrior who served under Japanese daimyo, tells the tale of a man who came from distant lands to fight alongside a mighty warrior.
With a cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield as Yasuke, Maya Tanida as Saki, William Christopher Stephens as Nobunaga, and Darren Criss as Abraham, the series promises an impactful and thought-provoking narrative that explores themes of identity, loyalty, and the complexities of war.
