MLS extends its dominance over Liga MX in latest All-Star showdown

In a thrilling match-up between the best of Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX, the MLS All-Stars emerged victorious with a 2-1 triumph. The highly anticipated game took place at Allianz Field in Minnesota on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, and was a rematch of the 2021 All-Star Game, which Liga MX won 3-1.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating numerous scoring chances. However, it was MLS who ultimately proved to be the more clinical side, scoring two goals in the second half to secure the victory. Diego Rossi opened the scoring for MLS in the 53rd minute, before Hany Mukhtar doubled the lead in the 71st minute. Liga MX pulled one back through a penalty kick by André-Pierre Gignac in the 84th minute, but it was not enough to prevent MLS from claiming the win.
The victory extends MLS's dominance over Liga MX in recent All-Star Games. MLS has now won three of the last four meetings between the two leagues, including the 2018, 2019, and 2022 games. Liga MX's only win during that span came in 2021.
