WNBA Stars Re-Signs with Connecticut Sun
Jones Inks Long-Term Deal, Remains in Connecticut
The Connecticut Sun have re-signed forward Brionna Jones to a multi-year contract, the team announced Thursday. Jones, a two-time All-Star and one-time All-WNBA selection, has been a key player for the Sun since being drafted by the team in 2017.
The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 14.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game last season, helping the Sun reach the WNBA Finals. She has also been a key contributor to the Sun's success in recent years, helping the team win the WNBA championship in 2019.
"Brionna is a special player and we are thrilled to have her back in a Sun uniform," said Sun head coach Curt Miller. "She is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend at a high level. We believe she is one of the best young players in the WNBA and we are excited to see her continue to grow and develop with the Sun."
Jones said she is excited to continue her career with the Sun. "I love playing in Connecticut and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my career here," Jones said. "I believe in this team and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish together in the future."
The signing of Jones is a major boost for the Sun, who are looking to build on their success from last season. The Sun are one of the favorites to win the WNBA championship this year, and Jones is a key part of their plans.
