After last year's disastrous season the Padres are playing like a team that is serious about making the playoffs.

Peter Seidler hired an entirely new front office and gave the team permission to spend money to upgrade the roster.

The Padres signed shortstop Xander Bogaerts from the Boston Red Sox and traded for Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals.

The Padres are now 75-45 this season and have the best record in the National League.

The Padres are in first place and on pace to win their first division championship in 24 years.
